Don't worry. It's not as bad as it sounds. They'll be peaking at a shoulder that refuses to behave. I'm just reeeeeeeeally claustrophobic and am not looking forward to being confined to a culvert.

When I had my knee MRI'd in high school it took 45 mins. During that time i couldn't so much as twitch!! I understand that the machines today are much faster. I wonder how they do a shoulder? I would think just the act of breathing would cause motion in the shoulder.

Most places now have an open MRI. Maybe your anxiety is for nothing?

Had a few of them already with my back.
Both of mine were in the tube style as I dont mind it..

You can ask to see if your hospital has an "Open MRI" machine. Ours does just need to be authorized from insurance to use it.

Now they call it keyboarding! Everyone laughed at me in 1988 when I took typing, but I'm sure glad I did. I have a nostalgic appreciation for the aesthetics of the IBM Selectric, red in particular. Plus, the class was mostly girls.

That's why I took Home Ec. Now that I have been single for 30 years it has paid off a lot.

MRI in the tube is not too bad if you can get the Doc to give you a short term relaxer. Been there, and have serious claustrophobia, too. Keep you eyes closed.

Back in '79 it was the football players that took typing (football coach taught it) and we all got A's! You could have fun "Air Battles" with the old selectrics when held one key down ... the rat-tat-tat of the rapid fire guns as the sounds of diving planes were being made ... aw the memories! (Obviously didn't learn much!)

But we are off track now. This thread it about ln's MRI. Hope they don't miss your shoulder, cause if they do your head we all know they won't find anything!

Mr. Coop, we don't want to alarm you, but there's a large blank spot just above your neck and we're not too sure what to make of it. Would you mind coming in for a follow up?

You didn't need an MRI to determine that...we could have told you without the need for medical diagnostics....

just had one done on my head and neck due to the 4 concusions I had playing football back in school and a car accident my senior year. I always thought my parents were full of yhit "take of your body or it will catch up to you". wish I would have listened because I pretty much live with a headache of some sort daily. good luck Incoop, just lay back, close your eyes, and imagine a nice long cruise down your favorite lake.

ask for some Valiums.Worked very well for me and I hate enclosed areas.Take a cd of your favorite band to listen too and enjoy it.

I have one two weeks ago for some broken ribs. Only took a few minutes. I think most now are open tubes so I wouldn't worry too much. Worst part was the contrast dye.
