hey guys

I have a problem at my dock -- there is alot of muck at the bottom and it is hard to avoid stirring it up coming in and out of my spot - they should dredge but it does not seem like they will(very expensive) and this is a privatly owned spot-- we have about twenty boats here. the price is very good so I hate to move. Will I end up with a problem pull this cloud of muck through the drive etc.

thanks
COOl It!!! Russell

Re: muck

Outboard or outdrive? For some motors there is a chrome pump kit for silty conditions.

Re: muck

How about a covering of geotextile, then 6 inches of aggregate? Geotextile comes in rolls, woven for larger openings, and smaller openings for on mud. Aggregate (gravel) should be about 3/8 to one half or 3/4 inch, no fines. Start on shore, roll and cover right into the water.
Good luck, be happy, boat lots. Batavier

Cool it, A friend of mine once had a shallow slip at a marina. He cleated the boat (both stern corners) to the dock, and put the drive in forward for a few minutes at idle speed. The moving water washed out the muck, and made the slip a bit deeper. He repositioned the boat as necessary. Alternatively, you can use a waterpump or fresh water hose to "blow" away the muck.
