Muffs on my Johnson

Want to do some testing tonight on my 175 HP Johnson and just got a pair of muffs that hook up to the hose. Do I turn the hose on all the way? What is the sign that I can turn the engine over? I can't imagine the feeling I will have if I screw this up.

No you don't turn it up all the way. Probably a little over half. I've read you can do damage with too much pressure, but I'd think the muffs would have to be siliconed on there as usually the extra water pressure just sqirts out, all over me................

Just a thought, don't do any testing or prolonged running, even a minute's worth, till you see water coming out of the "pee hole".
