Is one superior to another when summerizing? I thought muffs may be the ticket to verify water is moving through the engine and out the prop...

Also, how long can the engine be run at idle with one or the other?

The tank is superior, but the muffs(with adequate water supply) work just fine.

On muffs, you can idle 'till you run out of gas, with the tank you need to replenish the water as it is used. Of course if your tank is designed so that it catches the "used" water you won't go empty as fast, but you will need to exchnge some as you go to keep the temp dowm.

Don't rev it up on muffs. Garden hoses don't provide the volume necessary to allow things to function at high speed.

I use the muffs when I decarb, for sure. I don't want that gunk floating around in a tub of water and then getting sucked into the water intakes.

Ayuh,....My water has Good pressure,+ Flow,... I use the Muffs whenever I need to run the motor....

It takes a 'ell of a Bucket to get enough water around an outdrive to provide a reasonable flow...
Especially with the prop on the drive...
