Multimeters

For those wanting to have a multimeter for the boat, Harbor Freight has one on sale for $2.99, normal price is $7.99. Stock number: 90899-1UFB. It is of sufficient qualty to troubleshoot an electrical problem in a boat (or vehicle). It is not labratory quality, but for $3, you don't feel bad if it does a half-gainer into the water. I would get pi$$ed if my $300 one did. Store it in a zip-lock in the boat when not in useNext step up would be a $20 unit at Walleys World or Home Deposit. I have 2, one in the vehicle murphy box, and one in the boat. With one of those, I can talk you thru an electrical problem.

This post is not to start an active argument about HFs quality, but to allow someone to own one for that one time they really need it.

I have many HF meters as these and have been using them for many years. I am a road service tech for a major rental co and have my share of high dollar tools and test equipment. I have had the HF meters checked for calabration acc and found them to be in the 1 to 2 percent acc. A friend at a test lab does this for me and was surprised at the results. My 3 Tripplet meters ( 1 digital and 2 analog) are over 15 to30 years old and are calibrated each year.
HF has some junck and some good stuff to. Let the buyer beware.

I got one of those and they are not bad quality at all, they are actually better than some of the other cheaper brands. I use the heck out of mine.

For $3 is it digital ? If so that is a hoot and I may need to get one for my hoopty boat.
