Hey guys,

Have a 1993 Mariner 25hp. S/N - 0G032312
It has a bent propellor shaft.

I found one site that showed 2 part numbers.
816623 - $130 (stated no longer available)
816623 1 - $265 (use this part number)

Found multiple other websites without the number 1 at the end of the #.
816623 - for $250 - $300

Now I havef found a site out of Puerto Rico showing it for $130
http://www.boatpartspr.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=11_12_26309_38660_38661_38724

Questions:
What does that #1 at the end change?
Is the $130 one an inferior shaft that should not be used anymore?

Thanks for any help. I would like to order that $130 from Puerto Rico on Monday.

Thank you,
Bo

Can not do that. It was twisted and bent. Could not get the spacer washer off that is behind the prop due to the twist in the spline.
Had to cut it in half to disassemble the lower unit. All the gears look ok, so I am just going to buy a shaft and seal kit. Found a complete lower unit at a boat junk yard nearby for $450 but I don't think that includes any servicing it might need.

dont feel bad just had this happen a couple days ago at night going under a freeway bridge, luckily we were close to the dock and I have a spare shaft and prop, these mercs are tough!!
