Municipal Dollars Wasted (Rant)

The political leaders here in Fort Wayne have been re-vitalizing the Downtown area for at least the past 15 years. To date only a small percentage of beautification is noticeable. Last week these genius leaders sent a committee of 24 people to Greenville, SC to observe and meet with their people on how and what they did to re-vitalize their city. 24 PEOPLE, you have got to be joking!!! 24. This is the same group that is asking for a 2.4% property tax hike because the city has annexed another town, and now can’t afford the services they are entitled to. Those annexed didn’t want it, they got it! Are your community leaders this stupid? 24 people round trip to Greenville, SC for 3 nights and 4 days if they went low budget had to cost $10,000.00. That would guy a lot of vests for the police force, or pay a good chunk on a new fire station. These people are IDIOTS!!!

Yup. In business we argue (for budget reasons) over whether we should send 1 or 2 people to check out a new opportunity. We could start a whole new company with 3. We did just that in the UK . . .<br /><br />Somtimes I wish I hit the lottery just so I could go to City Council and School Board meetings full time and harrass until they get a clue. It is absolutely ludicrous.

My inlaws are leaving Bradenton, Floriduh to move to Greenville. They loved it. Now I worry that if these gimbrones here in Ft. Lame reccommend it, it may be a bad thing.

A few months ago, representatives from Dallas got caught checking out downtown Fort Worth. Fort Worth has had a complete facelift over the last 10 or so years. Dallas is still a pit.

If it makes you feel any better, I heard JJ on the radio last week saying that after the new stadium is built the Cowboys will be the most valuable sports team in the US. He added possibly the world, but well, you know how JJ gets.
