Musical Preference?

This has probably been posted before but....whatever..

My question is: What kind of music do you listen to ("everything" or "all types/kinds" do not count as answers). What do you prefer?

I am a metal head at heart: Soilwork, In Flames, All That Remains, Amon Amarth, etc are my go to bands.
However; I do have a unique love for the 80's for some reason: Mr. Mister, Journey, Genesis, Billy Squire, or hair bands like Poison, Def Leoppard, GnR etc seem to be great boating music.
But no boat would be complete without a little Jimmy Buffett on board.
Odd mix eh?

Re: Musical Preference?

I once made a living at spinning records in nightclubs in the late 70's early 80's. That is the era that I like most. I have pretty much quit listening as those past years have took a big,,,,actually extremely big toll on my hearing. Anymore, I listen to many talk radio shows finding out what is going on in the country.

As I've gotten older, music seems to be going to the wayside for me.

I listen to a variety of stuff, but I guess metal is my most listened to. I cant stand 97% of country or rap though, but you cant go wrong with Hank Williams III on any occasion.

I like a mix of Primus and Social Distortion for boating/fishing. ;)

Fish on!

Re: Musical Preference?

When I'm on the water just floating around, I normally listen to country music like Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisely, Craig Morgan, etc, etc...

Now, when we are cruising down the lake or river, I might throw some Airbourne Toxic Event, NIN, Incubus, Kings of Leon, stuff like that.

And once we've had a few drinks, "I'm on a boat" from Lonely Island always gets played....lol.

Re: Musical Preference?

I'm all over the place on this one - classic rock, R&B - both old school and new, 60s folk music, jazz, classical once in awhile (although I know very little about it), some hip hop, some country, funk, some metal, blues

Music I don't like is pretty limited - basically opera and violence/thug based rap.

These days, I listen to music on my computer mostly. One of the things that I have discovered for this is YouTube. I really like it because I can do a search on a category and discover all sorts of music that I didn't know about.

For the most part, "its all good!"

PS: At the moment, I am listening to a jazz/funk channel on YouTube - Rodney Franklin, Earth, Wind and Fire, Surface Noise, Jeff Lorber Fusion, etc.

Re: Musical Preference?

Just because this thread is fun, I'll post and bump it to see if anyone else wants to add some musical preferences.

At the moment, I'm listening to a 1966 version of Aretha Franklin singing "Misty." Its an interesting cut because it has both a bluesy feel and a 1940s big band feel to it.

I like it!

Mostly country. Some new stuff (Montgomery Gentry, Tim Mcgraw, Taylor Swift etc), and some old stuff (Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, C.W. McCall etc).
