QC - Well over here they are protesting quite within the law against something they feel strongly about that they believe in. What is it about the right to free speech that upsets you?

It is the moral equivalency that upsets me. Has nothing to do with their right to free speech. I would demonstrate to protect that. Read my post just above your first one.

Re: Muslims outraged over cartoon

I have seen lots of condemnation of suicide bombings, 9-11 and other crimes commited on behalf of islam by Muslims. Because there are evil people using a faith as an excuse doesnt mean that there is any benefit in me alienating the majority by doing things I know are offensive.

I do agree that it is strange that if you try and establish a different religion in a Muslim country you will find it very difficult where as we will bend over backwards to accomodate any faith. But isnt that our failing because perhaps as a country we do not hold our faith as important?

MRS,

Plus any God that tells you to kill is (Hitler)just not right to me.
Isnt that all religions then?

Example :

"Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Yes, march against Babylon, the land of rebels, a land that I will judge! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you," says the LORD. "Let the battle cry be heard in the land, a shout of great destruction". (Jeremiah 50:21-22 NLT)

Haven’t seen the cartoon that has the Muslims upset this time, but the ones I have seen in the past would best be described as racist, in the same way the neo-Nazi’s do derogatory caricatures.

This time the Muslims are doing the right thing; boycotting product from the country with the offensive cartoon, as opposed to doing something like a car bomb.

Anyone know of a web link with the cartoon?!? Would also like to see the cartoon that has the Pentagon’s feathers ruffled, something about a war vet with missing limbs or something. Web link for it?!?

Along with the majority of the Muslim faith who also do not bomb or shoot people. Remember on the news you see the extremes as it makes better TV.

My faith is my FAMILY
As is mine. I am not religous so cannot understand why somebody gets excited about a cartoon of a phrophet. But I can understand WHY if you do believe in something to have it ridiculed is offensive.

Chris,

There have been individual condemnations, but no demonstrations. It is obvious to me that these people will demonstrate at the drop of a hat, but not when the ultimate moral issue of murder is the topic, then they instantly become couch potatoes.

When are they going to realize that for the most part the rest of the world just doesn't give a crap about their religous beliefs and demands?

Here is a typical reaction of a Muslim to the cartoons:

"Whoever defames our prophet should be executed," said Ismail Hassan, a tailor who marched in the pouring rain with hundreds of other Muslims in the West Bank city of Ramallah. "Bin Laden our beloved, Denmark must be blown up," the protesters chanted."

Ahhhh, yes, they get their chops busted by a cartoon, and in return want Bin Laden to blow up Denmark.

Makes you wonder if any of them are sane.

Re: Muslims outraged over cartoon

Found some of the cartoons on another forum. One could possibly be considered somwhat racist, but in general the rest are kind of funny. Ok, they are really funny. Someone else put it best so far:

They shouldn't be upset with the people who ran the cartoons. They should be upset with the people of their faith who make those kinds of illustrations possible.

Re: Muslims outraged over cartoon

Why are these people in the Middle East so volatile? Why do they blow up at the drop of a hat? Is it my imagination, or do they tend to escalate any confrontation to the brink of violence immediately? Why do they not recognize innocence? Why do they trample each other at religous gatherings, of all things? Why do they form mobs and throw rocks? Why do they gaggle up and throw rocks at men with machine guns??

Is it genetic? Is it cultural? What is with these people?
