Must Outdrive be Down to Run on Muffs?

My outdrive is tilted in the full up position and I can't tilt it down because my winter storage location has low ground clearance. Must the drive be tilted down to run on muffs?

Also, does it matter which side of the outdrive you put the hose-side of the muff?

Thanks

Barry (getting closer to launch!)

Barry...doesn't matter which side you supply water to, there are some muffs out there now that will supply to both sides. I wouldn't recommend running in the full up position, this puts the most strain on your U joints, even if you can lower it half that would help a lot. If you must run it up don't run it above idle RPM's.

I'm just flushing out the purple winterizing antifreeze, not even putting it in gear. Why would U-joints be stressed if I'm not putting it in gear?

Thanks,

Barry

The drive shaft is still spinning. The shifting in and out of gear is in the outdrive.
