My 165hp Mercruiser IL 6 cylinder "pushrod" noise still there

Ilerrad suggested it might be the fuel pump. Said that a bad spring could leave a bit of play that might create a slapping noise.<br />I just pulled it and there is a slight looseness on the pump lever. <br />Also... the parts guy says the diaphragm is probably shot, cause it is leaking.<br /> fIlerrad......Did you say "even the slightest looseness could cause a loud noise?? Like a bad pushrod????<br />The play on the pump lever is about 2-3mm.... is that enough to cause a loud noise?????<br />Thanks,<br />Skip

As posted above any will make big rap sound like bad lifter. There is a plunger off the crank that operates the lever you will find it with your finger when you go to install the new pump you should by (diaphram leaking) you will need to lift this plunger for the leaver to sit under when install is done.
