I have the same ole' story... Been into boats for years but never owned my own. I've owned jetski's for a long time, but always wanted a boat. Now that my wife and I have a near 2 year old son who loves the water, it's time to move from ski's to boats. I wanted something that I could get into cheap initially, and fix up so that I knew the in's and out's of it. And so begins my journey...

I've read this board for awhile. After seeing what others have done to their Capri's on here, I felt inspired, and picked one up really cheap. The Force 85 runs like a top, the hull is in good shape, but the interior... wow. Someone had cut out the seat bases in the rear, and the interior all looks different than all of the others I have seen on here... So my task will be the interior.

I spent about 4 hours cleaning out leaves, spraying tilex everywhere to kill an insane amount of mold/mildew. At least the hull is white now, so that's a start! I also pulled out the rear seat mounts. I forgot to take pictures before I removed them, but I have them complete out of the boat, so I'll take pics of what they look like. TERRIBLE! I'm guessing that they came with back to back seats with about a 8"-12" wooden base wrapped in carpet? Does anyone have a measurement on their stock seat boxes? Was there storage under the seats? I'd really like to bring this back close to OEM, but if I can't collect enough data and images, I'll just maximize that space inside the boat as I see fit :)

The floor seems solid, and there are no soft spots that I have found. Once I tear out the carpet that's in there now, I will better be able to see what I have ahead of me. I plan to rebuild new seat bases that are the correct height (the ones that were in it were HUGE)

Something I'm wondering that I haven't really found info on yet... Where are there replacement decals for this boat found? For instance, I'm missing logos off the side of the boat, I'd like to replace the outboard lid decals, etc. I am going to have my buddy who owns a vinyl company make me new pin stripes for the sides, but it's the other logos with particular fonts that I'm most interested in.

I have had experience with both fiberglass and woodworking, so this shouldn't kill me too bad. I've also been a mechanic both professionally and for fun for the past 18 years or so. I have been reading a lot on what others have done with their Capri's, and what they looked for and found while in and under the deck. I'll be posting pics as I go, although the boss (wife) had the camera today so I just grabbed a few shots with my cell. Thanks in advance for all the great info I'm about to get directly! This forum is a MUST for ANY boat owner.

You can usually get replacement decals on e-bay. Just do a search there for "bayliner decals"

edit: Oh yeah. Nice looking boat. I always liked the looks of the little bayliners. Also, as for seats, Easiest thing to do is just buy back to back seats complete with the base. All set to go, just fasten to the deck and they are done.
