I need a new motor also.....currently have a 4.3....this looks hard to pass up....main thing I'm worried about is the flywheel/coupler mating up....anyone know my options?

Got to change coupler and drive shaft.
Do NOT USE A CAR MOTOR! Call Flagship marine. Complete Engines and MPI's dyno'ed.Their on the South west coast of FL. Used couple of thier engines and have warrenties too.Since you will be useing it in salt water, get the Dry joint exhaust upgrade kit from Merc. Its worth it.
Oh and what warrenty did your machine shop offer? And no new tins on the quote?

What size boat?
What kind of drive?
What the gear ratio?
What size prop?
350 hp on alpha bad idea, That SEI drive, turns dust in saltwater in little time.I've install couple of those for customers and where not happy after 6 months.
I had talk with my Merc. rep. on those drives, can ya say China housing
