Local boat yard has a 79 120. Will I notice much of a power difference if I go with the smaller motor? What about putting the 140 cam in the 120? I'm use to working on v8 engines so these little 4 cylinders are new to me.

Any and all help is appreciated

I think you will notice the 20hp difference. I would contact Rapido marine and see what a fresh long block would run ya

Ayuh,... It'll probably be Noticable...

The Cam is pretty much irrevelant, it's the Displacement...

That's what I thought. No replacement for displacement. Maybe I'll see if the crack can be welded.

last I looked a complete, less manifolds but with a distributer,3.0L long block assy was about 2000 dollars.
its also why most folks no longer rebuild them.

Will a 76 model 140 swap over without any issues? Found a good deal on one.

the only difference from old to new/new to old is the manifold.....just use your manifold,carb,alternator.... besides in my opinion...the older ones were built better anyways, i think gm started recycling metals around mid 70's
