Re: My 85' Riviera Tri-hull Rebuild

Last but not least, after allllll that sanding was done on the hull, I compounded, waxed, and polished it (all with 3M), and it came out unbelieveably awesome!!!

Didnt get a close up pic (sorry) but here it is flipped back over and back on the trailer. (you an really see how well it shines if you look near where the boat sits on the trailer)

Now I am back to working on the cap and the interior....

I still need to do the whole sanding routine on the cap (ugh) and finish my interior build out.

I'll let ya'll know when I get some more done.

Any questions, lemme know!

Wow, very nice. It was worth the wait. Excellent job on the motor, very nice. What kind of paint did you use on the outboard?

Hey TC,

Thanks!

I just used the OMC/Evinrude paint from the spray can... worked well for me.

(I had also primered it all with zinc chromate first)

Hope that helps!

Now the only problem is, I think I want to use that 75 stinger on it instead hehe...

Its a 76' (year older) but has higher compression, and was only ever freshwater used... got it from a little old lady, she even still had the original credit card like ID card from Johnson for it...

Starts and runs like a champ, just need to give it a paint job and its good to go...

But my max HP on my boat is 70... if I go with the stinger, I would be 5hp over...

thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about going 5 hp over, it's negligible.

Great work. That outboard looks incredible. Can't wait to see it with the new cowl. I wouldn't worry about the extra 5 horses.

Just cross out the 75 and put 70 on it....lol. Use wide marker though.

LOL. Looks that way. That's where I launch her off and the water is only shallow. I found a Riviera tri hull in a town near here for sale. Not sure on the size but it's around a 15 footer. Nice boats for sure.

Awesome to see you return, Numlaar! Don't feel bad about the long time away. Some unnamed people have done nearly nothing to their boat since your last posts ;)

The hull looks perfect. I can't wait to see the cap on it. Kudos for digging in again. Can't wait for the updates to resume full speed again.

Re: My 85' Riviera Tri-hull Rebuild

yeah and another two months later and I am back again!!!

Life has just been super duper hectic... still unemployed (16 months now, UGH), and money has become a real problem...

I did, however, get some work done on the boat!!!

luckily I had purchased all the supplies a while back when I had some cash, so with the cold weather finally moving on, I got back to it this week...

I finished out the inside finally!!! Here are some pics for you:

Re: My 85' Riviera Tri-hull Rebuild

I went with a gray for the inside... (tried white but the glare was just too much)...

If you have followed the thread from the beginning, the boat originally had the "splatter" paint done to it, so I decided since I had some blue left over from the stripe, to go ahead and re-splatter it up...

This also had the added benefit of hiding a lot of my horrible patching work, and added some traction with the bumpy surface!

I think it looks great, but I am sure some folks won't like it....

Anyhoo, I am sanding the cap now, and should have that back on soon!

yeah I don't know about them being nice heheh but I guess they do float (mostly) :D

As mentioned many times previously I will NEVER do this again heh next boat is going to be NEW!

5 years now, and still dont have my Riviera in the water yet :(

Re: My 85' Riviera Tri-hull Rebuild

Thanks TC!

I got the cap re-installed (still needs tons of sanding but I am tired of waiting to use the boat) :D

Slapped everything together (steering, controls, wiring, etc.) bolted the motor on and went for my first test ride!!!! YAAAAY

five years later and its finally in the water!

I'll post some pics soon (next few days) when I get it cleaned up a bit more!

wait.....I got all the way to the end and there's no 'end'? what the......

great job, even if it took 5 years. it's always nice to see what was once
cherished by someone and left to neglect, brought back to life and even
better shape than was intended.

now....get those 'after' photos up before I lose my mind!:p
