OK, first thing first.
1- put new plugs in, couldn't find the br8hcs-10's like it calls for, so I put in Champions crossovered plugs, what a mistake! Hard starting and a host of other things. The NGK plug #Br8hcs-10 plug is the right one, but no one around here carries it I gotta order them in. The "C" in the model # has to due with a grounding thing, it causes the plug to ground faster then other plugs. So it is running off a lil

2-The motor backfires like it has water in one of the cylinders when I first start it. Then I run it at a high idle it will clear up and run great, I run it out in the channel and open it up run's great then when I idle back in to my boat slip it starts popping again. I am leaning towards a coil problem possibility because it is intermittent.???????The motor backfired with the old NGK Br8hcs-10 plugs in it as well.I thought maybe the carbs were outta adjustment, so I checked the mixture screws but the popping continues.

3-when I am idling in the boat slip I notice alot of oil coming through the exhaust and floating on the top of the water around my boat, is the oil injection pushing too much oil possibly? (enough oil on top of the water for someone to complain about it)

any input would be great!!!

Check to see if your fuel pump is leaking. It will inject unmetered fuel into the attached cylinder and screw up the idle and put a lot of fuel into the water.

I will check that out right away, It might be the cause of this situation. Excess fuel dumping into the cylinder will cause the cylinder to "pop" as well right?

Well, that was it!!! The fuel pump diaphram had a hole in it. I replaced the diaphrams and it runs great. Now my selinoid went bad, It does nothing when I turn the key, but I have voltage to the selinoid when I turn the key but no action in the selinoid. So I have one on order and I have to jump the selinoid out to start it ,what a pain in the A**! Thanks for the info on that diaphram!!! Greatly appreciated!

Glad that was it. I'd like to get me one of those DT115s. I have a DT85 and sometimes wish for a few more ponies.

Yeah I hear that!! I got my Dt115 on the back of my 16' Thunderbird Cathedral hull (1969).It's a little heavy on it, I had a 1971 evinrude 100 electra-shift on it till' I threw a rod, it went about 38-40 mph, now with the dt115 it runs upper 40's, it can go faster but I ain't got the Ba*ls to push it!!! It gets a lil' squirrely!

I had it to 48 but let off when it started to chime, I cannot complain it gets me out fishing in a hurry if I need it. But most part I run it at half throttle and cruise very nicely.

This winter I am going to tear it down and rebuild it, It run's great now but I would like to make sure it is tip top for next year.
