Ahoy mates!! I'm fairly new to this site and have been reading all the articles and checking out the pics. I see that this is a great place to get some advice and show off various projects. My project is a sailboat and I have been enjoying working on it for the last couple of years. I find it to be relaxing and soothing to the soul when I am working on my boat. Once I get the glass work complete I will be pulling the engine so I can rebuild it. As soon as that portion is complete and the boat can travel under its own power, I will be motoring up the Indian River to have my masts stepped. Throughout the whole rebuilding process I have used polyester resin and woven roving. I think that if the proper preparations are done (grinding back at a taper with heavy 36 grit and preping with acetone) I will get a good bond and the end result will get me where I want to go. I know that I will get blasted about not using epoxy, but I didn't think the extra cost in materials justified its use. Let me know what you think... http://www.jimgrooms.com/album.htm
