My boat sank

Yep, my two month old Nitro Fish and Ski sank due to a SHT.<br /><br />On Friday night I picked up my boat from the dry storage facility and drive it a mile or so to my friend's dock so I can go fishing early in the morning. I arrive at my friend's dock at around 4:45 am ready to fish and notice my boat is swamped. The hull was sitting on the bottom and there was a lot of water in the cockpit. Fortunatly I had her docked in very shallow water, about 2 feet so it didn't have far to sink but it could have been a lot worse.<br /><br />I turned on the bilge pump and noticed the water in the cockpit wasn't going down very much so I got in the water and confirmed my suspicion. The dry storage facility forgot to replace the drain plug when they splashed the boat <br /><br />Anyway, the boat is fine, a little damp but fine.

And the guy who launched it forgot to put the plug in also.!!!!!

Yes, really he would be the cheif culprit. The guy who launched it was also the fork lift driver and the drain plug should have been near his eye level when he was moving the boat. <br /><br />I got a call from the dry storage place and they acknowleged that they made a mistake and they were very sorry and humble about it. My attitude was no harm no foul and if it had to happen I was glad that it happened to me since I parked in a very shallow area. <br /><br />It turned out to be an interesting morning. Once I got the boat reasonably dry, I caught quite a few fish, including two on one cast of my crank bait.<br /><br /><br />

I was angry but I felt more shock and relief than anything else. I kept thinking "what if I hadn't docked in such a shallow area?" I was also glad that I didn't have in engage in a length legal battle and ruin my weekend by filling out insurance claim paperwork.<br /><br /><br />

Who took the plug out and why would the plug be out if it's in a storage building?

Appearently they pull the plug once the boat is out of the water on the fork lift to let it drain so whoever was on duty helping the fork lift operator was probaby the one who pulled the plug.<br /><br />I don't know at what point in the sequence they are supposed to reinstall the plug but I imagine it is either just before they store it in the dry slip or just before they place it in the water.
