I guess it was inevitible but the 'f' and 's' words are coming out of his little mouth. It's a bad thing so why is it so funny? I can barely hold back from laughing at him.
He's 2 1/2.

Re: My boy can swear!

All of my in-laws know nothing but swearing. By brother in law even swore constantly during his wedding rehersal at the church and never thought about it it is such a habit for them.

Last Christmas my Mother in law was onto all of them to watch their language around my kids ages then 1, 3, 4. All weekend the kids never copied anyone, and she constantly was yelling and making a big scene with every little word.

Well, one time and one time only she let it slip and said sh!+! What did my 3 year old say for the next hour?

They then figured it was cute to say the phrase "what the f&%*", but instead just saying "what the". Now I am still trying to get my kids to stop that one. It only takes one time.

I remember a serious argument with my mom because she didn't wash out Uncle Jack's mouth with soap when he said the same things that got me on an Ivory soap diet for a while.

Dad explained that that sort of language was a "who says it where and when" issue. Wrong person, wrong place or wrong time and you are in serious trouble. 99/100ths per cent pure trouble.

I remember getting my mouth slapped with the back of my mom's hand. I can still feel my lip getting swollen when i think about it.....

Re: My boy can swear!

Well, I have him in a proper daycare so there's not a lot of swearing. A little behind the scenes maybe but not aloud. He lives with me and I try to keep that sorta' stuff away from him. I think it's the visit to his mothers every second week when he's picking it up. I can't say for sure... anyhow, it went like this (he's at the coffee table with a hot wheel in each hand and they're 'driving along' then they stop).
"Hi".
"Hi".
"Wanna' go for a dwive"?
"O.K.".
At this point they start 'driving' back. All of a sudden one hot wheel smashes the other and falls off the table.
"F*** s***, you cwashed".
I had a talk with him about bad words and I think he understood. I still think it's a funny 'incident' but he doesn't know that.

It was tough to get that to stop but I still think the old fashioned way works best. First time gets a talk.. second time a reminder and third time some rosey butt cheeks to remember by.

hehe
I hear ya'!
Every situation differs but my dad was a hitter and got a little carried away on occasion. I don't want to be like him so there's no backhands at my house. I guess there's nothing wrong with a 'little' spanking if he's done something really bad but the 'time outs' work as well I think.

Too much info. probably...

Re: My boy can swear!

My daughter started to drop the F bomb and other things when she was about 18 months. Definitely heard it from me, maybe my wife too once. :)

Also, I seem to say the word 'sh!t' a lot when I play the xbox (I'm almost 30, I know) because for a while, whenever I would grab the controller to start playing something, she would point to it or grab it and say 'sh!t sh!t'.

This is our first kid, so you learn fast just how spongy their little brains are and how fast they can form bad habits. She does not curse at all any more, and if she does happen to hear someone say something bad, she will tell you "no, don't say that, that's a bad word. bad word!"

smart little cookie for 29 months if I do say so myself. She can count to 10 in spanish and 20 in english, and is starting to read already.

do-do-do-do-do-dora. do-do-do-do-do-dora. swiper no swiping.

:D
