Can you get pictures of the damage? Is it visible? If it's not visible then he may have knocked some riveted joints loose. You might be able to use a product called Gluvit to seal it up again.

Cracks are only a problem in fiberglass, in a aluminum they are pretty easy to replace, it will make it easier to see exactly what is going on in there too.

If you hear cracking noises I think I would make this repair a priority, that is definately NOT good.

Pull the motor, drill rivets/remove any scews and pull the old transom out, try to save as much as you can and use the old transom board as a pattern for the new one.

Exterior ply is good, 3/4'' and cut 2 peices then glue and clamp them together, I used Gorilla glue, install new transom drill all hole then pull it again and seal paying special attention to edges and holes.

While everything is out of the way you can see what is going on with the rest of the boat.

Re: my brother killed my boat???it leaks

Welcome to iboats!

Starcraft transoms are among the easiest of replacements. We have many varios starcraft projects going on here from partial work to complete rebuilds.

Read through and you will get a good understanding.

For your transom you will need.... (at a bare minimum)

3/4" plywood enough for two layers thick to match the old transom....
one fiberglass repair kit complete (should be enough for the transom wood)....
Stainless steel bolts and fasteners.........
one small tube of 3m 5200.....

That is enough to fix that leak and replace the transom...... now go hug your brother and apologize because together you have some work to do!! :)

this is by far the best website i've ever been to out of al:D:D:Dl. the info, people wicked job people...thanks i'll be replacing the transom..now after looking ferther the crack was from someone screwing two pieces of alu. to the bottom then fiberglassing over it.....one piece is 4in x 6in and the other is bent from the hull a inch up the transom..still can't figure out how to put pic's up...the cracking noise i heard must have been from the broken support on the inside from the hull to the transom.the top of the support has a crack in the top where it's rivited to the transom...should in take the alu. off the bottom or weld a new piece.the town i live in has three alu. jet boat builders..i'm sure they could do it ...i think i'm going to strip the inside out and reseal the whole thing...
