I've had my '71 16' starcraft Jupiter for the past couple years, it came to me with a '77 mrec 850 which I upgraded to a yamaha cv85, the previous owner put in a new floor with new foam. The boat has been used for extensive fishing and crabbing here in the san juan islands, it is my first power boat apart from the hand-me-down Lund 12' that was my grandfathers. Recently though I have been given the opportunity to acquire a '64? (On the title) 18' outboard starcraft holiday. It definitely needs work but I've been stalking the resto threads on this site since I bought my Jupiter. The thought of an 18' boat is appealing due to the water conditions out here ( weather and waves come in quick in haro straight ). Any thoughts and or comments would be welcome!

I went from a 16' Jupiter to an 18' SS. The 18 is bigger than the 16 in every way. Just overall a much more substantial boat. If you're going out in any kind of snotty conditions, the 18 will be an awesome upgrade for you. Go for it!

second that. the 18 holiday is a HUGE hull with tons of freeboard. the standing height from deck to gunwale is about 27", more than you'll find in most boats under 25-27'. people often don't believe it's just 18'.

Thanks for the replies! I've decided to pull the trigger on the boat, hopefully I'll be picking it up this weekend. I'll see about getting some pictures up.
