I saw that post about the trailer problems Alpheus has been having and it reminded me. When I bought my boat, I got it off ebay. I got a great deal from this dealer in Jacksonville. Needs upholstery, some detailing, but its a 2001 Tahoe Q7 V8 with less than 55 hours on it. .Sat for years, then got reposessed. Supposedly runs perfect, and mechanically perfect, just needs the cosmetics. I won the auction for $2900

Its about a 2 hour drive up there, and the guy said he would deliver it for gas money. OK great. He sends his buddy and their kids to deliver it. Shows up with a signed title for the boat and a bill of sale signed by the dealer but not by the owner for the trailer. Boat wont start, there is serious issues with the whole deal. I jumped the fuel pump and it started up. OK one problem solved but not fixed. After talking to the guy on the phone and telling him he can keep the boat he agreed to come off the price another $800. OK cool, I can fix the issues for far less. Water pump, power steering pump, wiring to the fuel pump, spark plugs and an oil pressure sending unit and I was in the water. Total of about $250.

On to the trailer. I wish I had taken pics. To start off I couldnt get it registered with his paperwork. He agreed to do it for me after about a week of arguing. About 2 weeks later he sends me my plate and registration. OK great, deal is done, I have an 01 boat that I have less than $2500 in, on the water running great.

Or so I thought. Coming home from the river about a week later the whole rig got squirrely. Swaying all over the road. I slowed down and slowly got the boat home. I started looking around, did I forget to strap something down? Did a tire seperate? Then I looked underneath. BOTH of the cross beams has broken clean in half due to rust from the inside. I called the dealer and he blew me off, and then stopped taking my calls. He did send me some emails asking me to pay him for his time and for registering the trailer though. LOL. I figured, oh well, I got a good boat cheap. So I picked up another trailer for $500.

Funny thing is when I was looking for a trailer I responded to a Craigslist ad and this guy sends me an email back calling me every name in the book saying I owed him money for the other trailer. I just sat there laughing becuase had the trailer he sold me been decent to begin with I wouldnt be looking for another one. I sent him an email back telling him not to hold his breath. I was using his $100 to put towards another trailer because the one he sold me had fallen apart on the highway, and be glad that he is only out $100 because if it had come apart on I-95 when his buddy was delivering the boat, he would have been out a whole lot more than that. Needless to say I didnt buy that trailer. LOL

ANyway thats my story of how I got my boat. 3 seasons later and it finally gave up the ghost. We had a factory defect where the head gasket was pinched. But hey we got 3 seasons out of it, and they were hard seasons. I take it out about 3 or more times a week. So I cant complain. I am putting an engine in it, and hopefully get a few more seasons out of it.
