It is missing :)
I have a 1993 70 hp Evinrude ,model E70TLETS that will miss when put into gear . It seems to Idle fine. Either it quits missing at full throttle or I just can't hear it as good. First time out this year it it even died when goin slow. I had NGKs in it at that time and put the old Champions back in and after cranking a while got it to start. The plugs seemed a little oily.It has new plugs and fresh gas. Also top rpm is 5600 .Is this correct? Any help? Thanks in advance!

Hey, Smoker.

With about 100 posts a day to sort for problems I can help with, I am really inclined to skip the ones that don't offer a clue in the topic.

I don't know what your question is.

5600 is a reasonable top end rpm.

Good luck. :)

Re: My Evinrude on a milk carton

My original topic was 70 hp evinrude is missing .I edited it to this to maybe get some attention since it was overlooked before.Guess it kinda worked. The question is would the missing be a fuel problem or electrical. Is there a way to change the fuel ,oil ratio? Is a slight amount of oil on the plugs normal? Tried doin a search but didn't find anything .Thanks for the reply JB , sorry I wasn't more specific.

Smoker,

Yes 5600 is OK. The operating range is 4500 to 5500.

A miss can be either. If you are able to pull 5600 I sort of doubt it is fuel.

The oily residue may mean it is a bit rich. Do you mean black or oily, as in dripping. Black like coal would be more akin to normal.
