Hi all!

I'm a very excited first time boat owner...just purchased a 1986 Grew 237 cuddy cruiser, with a 5.7L Mercruiser 260. She's 23'7" and runs beautifully.

I've driven boats before but this is the first time I've owned one. I know I have tons to learn, but I'm like a kid at Christmas right now! (I'm 40). :D

Just wanted to say hi, I'm a veteran of several car forums and they've been invaluable resources to me over the years...looking forward to getting to know some of you!

Cheers!

Some pics...

Lol, thanks all. Always keep the dirty side down indeed! ;)

Sadly, it seems Grew as a company just closed shop this summer (June 2011). Grew as a company started in roots in 1882, a real heritage here in Canada. It's nice to own a piece of that heritage though!

Congrats on the new boat. Don't fret too much about the manufacturer going out of business. Happens alot. You'll still be able to find parts, and the motor is a good one. Have fun and be safe.

Re: My first boat!

@southcogs - too true! Leaves are changing already, where did summer go? However, I plan to keep her on the water well into October, gotta enjoy those fall colours!

@DuckJunterJon - good points, thanks for the reassurance. Had a momentary twang when I saw that news.

@ everyone - thanks again for the very warm welcome!!! Our maiden voyage in her might be tonight...very excited. It has been well cared for, previous owner had lots of documentation and is a great guy.

Pat goodnight - check. Kid in a candy store - check. ;)

Yes, I will educate myself appropriately, especially when/if I get anywhere near open water Lake Ontario. I'm staying close the shore at the moment! I've heard plenty of tales about how conditions on Lake Ontario can change quickly.
