My first launch of the season was Saturday.

There is always a little trepidation with the first launch of the season. Even though the boat was winterized, covered and stored in a shed, there is always the question as to whether everything will work like it did last fall. Saturday was sunny and 80 degrees though the water was still in the upper 60's so my wimpy kids didn't want to go. I took some tools, cleaning supplies, a jump box and my wife and pulled the boat out of the shed. The cover was filthy but had done its job and the boat looked good. We took it to the Cherokee ramp on Clarks Hill lake and had an uneventul put in. It even fired up on the first turn of the key (unlike last years failure). My wife and I had an enjoyable childfree cruise for the afternoon and with the multiple 90 degree days forecast this week the lake should soon be warm enough for the wimpy kids.

We spent all day out yesterday. Temps were around 85. Lake was upper 60's so the kids and me jumped in. Wife wouldn't get in though. It was cold but after 5min it was bearable. We are in East Tn. I actually got sun burnt. We weren't planning to stay out all day and didn't even take sun screen.

DRRPM you should keep telling the young 'uns that the water is 60* and have fun with the wifey!

I have a boat I share with 6 other guys and we just had to put a new motor on it, my first 4 stroke. Last weekend was my first turn with it and it ran great for most trips but sluggish on two trips with a large load--one the previous 2 stroke (and 10 HP less) could handle. We will investigate the prop situation. But the other runs were really nice.

My stay-at-home boat had its first spring run last weekend when I took my wife for a sunset cocktail cruise on a mild 70* evening, full tide, blue skies. Although I try to run it every 2 weeks through the winter but I still regard that kind of trip as a "seaon's opener." Still needs a spring cleaning but I may as well let the pollen cycle through.

Lake water here is still about 61? so I think I'll let this week's 90? days warm it up and we'll try this coming weekend. Coldest I've done is 67? and like you said, it takes your breath but after a couple minutes it's no big deal.

I am not sure the air temp has gotten into the 60's more than once or twice......

1st trip ended in desaster for me! Maybe a month of rehab and another surgery will be back by Aug.

What the heck happened, bonz_d? You can't end a thread with a comment like that!
And congrats drrpm. I've been out fishing since mid February but the lake was not even close to 60. Neither was the air temp. Guess the fish don't care so I don't.

Right now it's 2am CDLT and am up in very much pain. Can no longer sleep because pain meds wore off and can't find a comfortable position to lay in.

Would like to thank everyone for thier understanding and concern! At times it becomes very difficult to type and follow a decent frame of thought because of the pain drugs. Was also just informed that comimg dowm from these drugs can get very ugly.
