My flicht ram locks up when i accidentally start the engine with the gear on.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, I'm in trouble with my Evinrude ficht RAM 175 engine, yesterday it stopped working when the night was falling.

The problem is as follows, when I try to start it with the gear on the system locks up and won't let me start the engine for several minutes.

At the dealer in my city they can not solve the problem, theoretically the system should not let me start the engine with the gear on but it should NOT block the engine for so long.

If someone had the same thing happen to you I hope you can help me I would be very grateful.

problem solved then ... leave it in neutral.

for best trouble shooting having EV DIAGNOSTIC software on a laptop will give your access to trouble codes and history .

EV diag works on ficht and more modern ETEC engines

Yes....your description is faulty I believe. If it what I believe it could be, all kinds of things can induce that scenario. Re-think what you've posted and re-explain.

Crosby....interesting read. Did you buy one and generally what does it cost? Here is the latest read on my engine. I do not have the software by the way.

Yes I purchased my EV from an internet supplier who sent a wrong version . they quickly shipped me a second disk I loaded on my cheap Walmart laptop. you can get EV from amazon and the one with the FDTI chip set is recommended about $160

or you can visit the ETEC board and download a free version from the site but you would need to build a connector cable. That said the Amazon stuff should be no problem (with cable) IBOATS may sell it to !!

I have version 5.1 but they are up to 5.9

it is mostly for checking fault codes and oing basic tests ... swapping net injectors profiles and doing brain surgery on a EMM is dicy a bit but doable using what is called a bot starp cable .. the basic cable is just for monitoring dumping reports doing basic tests on ignition and injectors

GEB on the the ETEC board is the resident expert... not me :)

btw that report is 3 years old.....better get a fresh report extracted by a dealer if you do not have EV DIAG. on your buy list !
