...so the motor on the boat I am fixing up...Johnson 150GT...is a bit of a bassterd.
I bought the boat from my mechanic. While he has gone through the engine and givien it a clean bill of health...
It has been repainted at one time...put back together, likely with parts from other engines...so is kind of a Frankenstien motor...

I cannot find the model number on the sucker anywhere. The tag is missing and if it was stamped in I sure cannot see it anymore.
THREE QUESTIONS:
Is there some way to back trace a likely model number from some other part number???

Is there some "secret place" ( LOL) on the motor that may likely might not have been fooled with that may have a stamp or something?

I need the cable that plugs into the engine wiring harness that goes to the control box for the tilt and trim...any ideas?

That "secret place" that Tash posted is usually on the top rear of the motor, and is about the size of a quarter.

The wiring harness shouldn't be newer than about 1991 or so. Look up the trim harness for a 1990 150 cf. They're all about the same for that vintage anyway.
