my friend gave me a Garmin 188c, now what

My friend recently gave me a garmin 188c. I have been contemplating replacing my Humminbird 570 with it and moving the 570 to the trolling motor. Is it worth the rewiring. If so, will the Garmin interfere with the function of my Lowrance H2O gps if they are side by side?

It appears that the Garmin is a combo GPS/sonar unit. Why would you need to continue using the Lowrance (except as a backup)?
