I have a 6hp sea horse. I have a problem with mine, it would'nt start when I first bought it because the black cog was worn out. I replaced the cog to find that the engine woundn't start when it did it would run for a couple of minutes and then die. The guy I bought it off hadn't got a water tank so when I asked to see it running he only started it and didn't leave it run. I would never but an engine that started and didn't run! so we decided it was worth the money to leave the carb in to get it cleaned after we saw the filth in it. that didn't solve the problem! so after about a month I finaly talked my dad into spending money on a new fuel pump, which I thought would be about €15 so today I went out with my brother about 20 miles to a specialist shop to buy a pump. When we got there we found that the pumps were actually €91!!! we fitted the pump last night and the engine wouldn't start. It made absolutly no effort. we worked for about an hour or 2 and we tested to see if the pump was working which it was it was rushing out when we took the hose away from the carb. we checked the sparks for dampness from petrol but they were bone dry. everything seemed right. so we got annoyed with it and decided to leave it. But I thought as a last effort that I would pump the primer really hard and leave it at the highest speed to try and soak in. we went inside and a while later I decided to give it another pull to check up on it. It started and sounded like it was willing to go. so I left it run, when it started to get warm we slowed it down to start then shift and finally the big one. . . slow we had never got it running for this long especially at such a low speed. so I went back inside and a couple of minutes later it died. when we went to start it it wouldn't start. we kept trying and decided to leave as we had come far enough for the day. does anyone know why this happened? My engine is a 6hp seahorse serial#:C519543
model#:CD-24D any help would be appreciated

----------------
Wes
