Alternator conversion round 2. Figured ide post a pic of the bracket i made for my 470 alternator conversion. maybe it will give someone ideas if they want to make one on a budget. I originally had the low mount cast aluminum conversion which is junk( pulley starting to separate and bracket cracking). This just bolts to the head. ive seen other systems use the timing cover but after reading about covers cracking easily I decided to not rely on the cover for any support. i figure almost every vehicle uses bolts in the head to hold on accessories and since its cast iron it should be ok. This bracket is made out of 3/16 plate and a .750x.120 thick tube. i used the arm from the old conversion kit since its easier then making a new slotted piece. only mod to the alternator (one wire marine) i had to do was drill out the pivot hole to 1/2.
