Re: My little 3.0L is blowing my mind...
Absolutely, but I used that to MY advantage (and it is EXACTLY the reason I have a 3.0), because I bought my boat USED this time. I don't think I would ever buy a 3.0 new though, for that very reason.
As I said earlier, my days of "more power, more power" are over....and I also think my days of "must buy new" are coming to an end as well. Here in Michigan, there are just way to many good deals in this economy on the used stuff.
I used to buy all my big ticket items new, whether it be houses, planes, RV's, or boats. But I got a sweet deal on this 4 year old boat with 3.0L with only 20 hours on it, and I couldn't pass it up. My current house was 9 years old when I bought it, my RV was 3 years old, my plane, believe it or not, is MUCH older than me! Of course, that is actually going UP in price from it's age, so it doesn't really count!
What about resale? I'm pretty sure a 4.3 will be more attractive than a 3.0 at resale time. NADA gives you a nice bump in price for having a bigger engine with a n 18' bowrider.
