My little 6hp Merc surges

Hi foks:

At WOT my little 1964 6hp Merc has begun this surging routine. It idles fine but when I open her up I get a cyclical RPM surging. (sorry I don't know the technical term)

What causes this?

I had one did the same thing. It was a 1970 but could be the same. I found that the fuel pump needed a rebuild. Cost me about 50 buck for the kit. Easy do it yourself. Hope it works for you.

We had a 1969 6hp that did the same thing. It was cutting out a cylinder due to bad points.
