When i had finished prepping my boat to be painted(old 73 de hallivand 4.33m). I thought to myself.. How am i going to get it onto my driveway firstly off the trailer and then how am i going to flip it upside down without damaging it. Well after alot of thinking i thought Hey i can use hold tyres stacked on eachother and it will be like a rigid and very gripped pillow for the boat. So i got 14 tyres stacked them under the trailer.. below the transom etc.. and got in the car while my dad was letting off the boat slowly while my friend was placing tyres underneath. Wouldn't you konw it the tyres supported the weight of the boat without a hitch and didn't even crumple that much..

Things only got better. I now could paint my trailer because the boat was off it. I now could paint the bottom of my boat properly. I know could do anything i wanted to. The boat was even easier flipping it over with 4 people. It was a rainy day and unfortunately the boat slipped out of my dads and friends hands but because the tyres were underneath they absorbed the impact.

Trust me tyres are the only way to go!! (if your boat is small enough) And you can get used ones for free at the wreckers! And hey its much easier than wasting time to build wooden supports..

The only draw back is you get some marks on the boat from the tyres but this is easely solved with placing dropsheets where the boat is going to make contact.

Have fun!

y2j,

I'm fortunate. Both my sons are athletes. I just invite the team(s) over for some fun in the pool and a "small" ;) project.

Buy a couple pizza's and I'm good to go! :D

When they're gone, I'll have to start thinking.

Well, I thought that I thought of that Idea. I did take me some time to figue it out. I flipped a 16 footer that i am building. The tires worked great.
