I picked it up last week and did the break in over 3 days. After day one, I changed lower unit and case oil for piece of mind...will change again this week to make sure any tiny pieces are out. I tried my best to find a 2stroke 9.8 leftover but couldn't locate one. After deciding to go ahead with the 4stroke, I used the 2stroke search as a test for my local dealers...I knew they didn't have any but was looking for the most personable one (willing to try). The first guy that made an effort got my business...but for the 4stroke. Anyway, the motor is a work of art--I may just like this 4stroke

Grats yater!<br /><br />I know it was a real struggle getting your new OB. Keep us posted on how it performs, fuel consumption, and idle time.

I love this motor also. After almost 2 months<br /> I have no complaints. The best thing is the <br /> fuel. I converted from a 9.9 2-stroke Mariner. <br /> It gulped gas. The Tohatsu sips. That's<br /> important with a 3-gallon tank.

I am also looking at one of these motors. Is there any problem connecting the fuel line to the main gas tank, instead of using a separte small tank? Keep us posted on your satisfaction with the Tohatsu.

That's a nice welcome! Whacha wake up on the wrong side of the boat today?

Actually, his response holds true today as it was when this thread was started. Except the price is probably higher.

Welcome aboard "MDF" :D

Thanks for the welcome....rookie could not be more accurate. I've had a couple of boats in the past, but never did any of the maintenance. My uncle gave me an old Larson Tri Hull that has has bery little use. Now that I have mustered up the nerve to tear into it, I'm enjoying the process. I may have to pester a few of you for information, since my repair experience is very limited.

You've arrived at the right place. Lotsa experience with many of the members here. I always enjoy watching a rebuild when the restorer takes a pic by pic along the way. Check out some of those threads in the restoration threads.

We were all rookies at one time . . . :)

:p

On the positive side, I do give MDF credit- good job at utilizing the search function. I am ususally the guys that tells the new folks to go try the search function to get their answer.

Welcome to iboats MDF.
