I think I would use the bracket that came with it,.......

I wouldn't cut into the transom to hang a motor,....

The extra transom height will help keep bigger waves from swamping you,......

You could go with a CMC or Panther jackplate if you wanted too,............

I'm not a fan of jackplates either. If you are doing a full restore why not lose it and do the transom the way the factory designed it. That seems to always be the best method. JMHO

.

What is the original design

Btw the tilt system is so bad but is is not so good the transom is dry and I don't feel any bad spots I really don't know if I can make a bracket to attach to the old omc but before it give me more problem I Rather replace it I don't like the idea of cutting my transom if I add a jackplate will I need to cut it or I can live it how it is I also was looking in to a swim platform bracket what u guys think

I THINK but am Not 100% sure the boat orginally had the motor attached to the transom and relied on the tilt and trim hydraulics of the motor. The "POD" (JackPlate/Bracket) that's on there now was added later.

Yep, this pic confirms...NOT factory

This is how the back of the boat loos like now the problem am having is if I add a small bracket I will have issues with the tilt and the steering system I think

I'm confused. Was yours originally an I/O? Your transom is totally different than the pic WoG posted. It looks like someone had an I/O hull with no transom hole and added that plate/motor OR someone did some MAJOR work to it.

That's an OMC SeaDrive. They were a unique animal and the boat was probably specifically designed for it. You'd best bet would be to install a new motor bracket.

They're quite pricey new but perhaps you can find a deal on a used one. Otherwise you're probably looking at some major transom modifications and adding a splashwell.

The integrated swim platform brackets are sweet. Since your boat was already essentially designed for a bracketed outboard, I would assume your transom would ready for a bracket.

They sure are nice tonight I will take off the bracket and see how bad is the transom

Re: my new project wellcraft 180 fisherman

Nice looking boat. I've been thinking about buying its big brother a v20 fisherman for a better ride than my current tinny. I just don't want to put in the time and money for a fiberglass restoration. Like was said above the easy way would be to keep it as a closed transom and outboard bracket, but they're expensive. Weigh out all your costs and time and you might find you would be better off with a different project. Not trying to be discouraging, just weigh out your options. I like project boats but they can be money pits too.

Thanks is really clean and I think I pay good money for it with the aluminum trailer in good conditions to the floor is really good no need to take it off to replace anything the main problem was the motor and bracket well I just don't like the bracket and to invest in something not knowing what can come after I better doit Rigth every one is telling me that omc is nothing but bad news and the bracket I just don't like it

Btw I only pay 1300 for everything
