NY, you could go without a floor, but I wouldn't suggest it. There is a chance you could put stress on the rivots by stepping on the floor between the ribs. If you were to get it, you could just buy a couple sheets of 5/8 or 3/4 exterior plywood, slap some paint on them and put them in. It would last at least one season and give you a chance to save money for a good resto. The concern to me would be the transom, wouldn't risk a temp job on that. I agrre with the other guys, I think he has anoother buyer or is trying to raise the price. It would be a nice rig, but obviously the choice is yours, Good Luck,
Dale

Well, if it were me...

I'd ask him what he wanted for just the trailer and the boat and be looking for a super low price (as I'd be selling that 15 and going for a 25 anyway) in light of the "issues" that were raised. If no go, I'd prolly pass and keep looking, but thats just me.

I think another would come along.

Cheers!

I like the layout of this boat and I think it has a particularly sweet console. Replacing the deck in a little tinny like that can be done in a weekend for like $40. I REALLY think you'd be happier with this one than the row-boat type layout other boat you're looking at.

thanks for the advice guys, he said he was looking for 600 for the boat and trailer. but that was before the rot was discussed.
i think i'm going to try and go for this boat. it isn't totally my decision though, need the A-OK from my brother and dad

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the console was added as an option on that hull from the factory. Those open style hulls cost quite a bit more than the rowboat style with the benches, and the console probably upped the price by 2-300 as well, so this rig is a great deal in my opinion if you can get it for <600.

With a little work it will look like a brand new boat that would run over $1500.

Re: my new starcraft (hopefully)

called the guy to inform him that i might not be able to come tomorrow as my vehicle needs a new wheel hub since the bearings are shot. odd for a 1999 honda minivan, but spinning out and slamming into a snowbank probably had something to do with it.
he asked if i was interested in the guys boat whom he referred me to and when i said no, he said he had another to show me. Hmm, this guy really doesn't want to sell to me but i still want it haha

Humm -- We know you are young and eager BUT sometime BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR . Has to be something wrong with the boat or its gone already. Ask for a top side view and see if he can send another photo. Make sure he has a title in hand if you buy it. I would be a bit hesitant without one.

He has a title in hand and all, i haven't committed to anything in fact he has another buyer coming later in the day. he said the floor looked worse than it actually is, saying he was able to drive a screw in and it isn't rotten and soft like he thought it was. he also said the transom seems allright, and i guess i wont really know until i look at it myself. he seems to change his mind in the boat everyday:confused:

Buy it man. The motor alone is worth that much. Put a new floor in it proper, these guys will help you and fix the transom. It isn't that hard.
For the kind of money your spending your condemned to a fixer upper more or less.
Buy it and sort the rest out later.

If you really dont like, sell it later. You know you will get at least most of your money back.

Go get it boy! :)

The best thing here is probably good for you to say -- THANK YOU LORD-- Me thinks you just saved yourself a world of grief. Good luck on your search. Wait for one you can use right away then rebuild when necessary.
