"Picked up" this 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz a couple days ago. Traded in my 2020 Kia Sportage, which had a max tow rating of only 1,600 pounds.

This new "Sport Adventure Vehicle" (as marketed by Hyundai) is rated at 5,000 pounds towing, which suits my needs perfectly. It's All Wheel Drive (AWD) with 281HP and 311 pounds feet of torque. Bed length is 4' 4" and it's the smallest "not a pickup" currently available.

And zero to 60 is right around 6 seconds.

The color of mine is Sage Gray, which can appear gray or green or gray-green, lighter or darker, depending on lighting. It's sort of like a medium light OD green most of the time. It has a bit of pearl and metallic in there.

Looks nice, hope the tow rating is accurate.

I don't know about a trucklet, might be a tucket. 😜

Funny to me (and I don't mean any knock on the trucklet), compared to the El Camino and the old Ford truck - that Hyundai isn't that small! I saw the same thing with my daughter's '08 Mustang parked next to my FIL's '64.

I always have in my head the older cars being these big ole' beasts and the newer ones being smaller and more efficient ... but they ain't smaller!

Truck version of the Palisade with a different grill huh?

I'll say this... its definitely unique and won't be confused with anything else on the road.

It's actually based on the Tucson, which is smaller than the Palisade. But the rear end is based on the Santa Fe, which is how it got the 5,000 pound tow rating.

Unique is right. They just came out a couple of months ago and there are limited units available. Finding one is a major effort in and of itself. And some dealerships (stealerships?) have been marking up the price by as much as $20,000!! 😲

I was able to find an honest dealer that didn't add a "market shortage adjustment" to the price. 😎

Right?

The thing is, as Americans got fatter and bigger, they demanded larger vehicles so that they could fit inside. Hence, larger trucks, cars and SUVs. And regular cars are being replaced by SUVs, Crossovers and whatnot. Just to accommodate our bulk. And the trend is spreading worldwide.

The Mustang will be the only car that Ford will be selling now. No more regular cars and sedans.

Sad stuff indeed.

Later today I'll get a pic of our three trucks next to each other for comparison. ;)

congrats on your new purchase. I still dont like the grill and headlights of the new hyundai myself. then again, there was a lowered 1962 suburban with two aluminum canoes on top at the camp ground that I just drooled over.

Thanks!

I have a very good friend who's into those old antique cars and trucks too. (y)

I sold my old Ford truck a couple weeks ago to a nice young fella who paid full price and drove across the state to pick it up. He's happy, I'm happy! 😎

I've been busy the last couple of weeks but will hopefully get around to having a hitch, harness and a brake controller installed on the new truck soon. Can't wait to pull a boat with the new ride! :D

And I came across this video on how Hyundai makes the little truck. Cool stuff! (y)

There's a Subaru Brat in my neck of the woods in excellent condition. Same color as the one pictured above...

The factory hitches became available and I had one installed last week, along with the wiring harness with 7-pin connector.

Got the trailer lights all working, hooked the KF up to the SC and took it for a test drive to get some sunset pix. The SC pulled the KF like it wasn't even there. I'm very pleased with how well the little truck performs! (y)

We've finally started my Chieftain project and after blasting 6 years of mold and grime off the boat this afternoon, we took it down to my favorite spot for a few pictures.

The little truck towed the big Chief with total aplomb.

Try not to duplicate posts (esp pix)

Post in 1 and link it in the other, avoids duplicates and using twice as much space on the server.
