1 sheet of 3/4 Arauco ply will be enough to get your two pieces cut. I went with epoxy and a heavy piece of glass roving I had kicking around sandwiched in between then 3 coats all around. Some guys pre drill the holes over size and coat the inside of those too.

Ok..finally going to make an attempt at getting this motor off and transom pulled.
Stupid question time...
Does the bilge drain hole/tube go through the transom wood or under it?
Will I have to pull it out and if so how have you all done it?

Bilge drain?

Well, that would be under the transom. So no need to monkey with that to get the transom out.

See...

The splashwell has two drains that go thru the transom wood.

Usually torn to smithereens after removal, so I got new plastic ones. Brass is another option, but you have to flange them.

Can't wait to see what you do with the boat, she cleaned up real nice:D

Hi chef...
Remove all screws and bolts including the splashwell screws, end caps and then screw an i hook in if you can and hoist up.
Also a prybar from inside pushing up will help.

You can get the original type splashwell drains right here on Iboats. They are aluminum, and you'll need the Moeller flanging tool. They are a piece of cake to install.

CBK - someone made a flange tool out of bolts, washers and nuts, used it on brass or alum fittings.

Good luck on the transom.

I would have trouble finding a 1000lb weight.

A great deal on that boat!

I would bet that boat has waterlogged floatation foam, are you sure you want to run it like that?

Kev, the plastic drain tubes work great and are super easy to install.
