You may have seen my previouse thread which outlines my problem, but in a nutshell it wont go into reverse. I have checked abd adjusted the cables from the remote back, they are fine. The cables in the converter are fine. I pull the cables all the way into reverse and I hear a faint grinding like it is almost engaged but it doesnt.

I have a few more questions before I tear into the outdrive. On the shift interupter switches, when you manualy push the buttons on them should you be able to hear the engine sputter a bit? When I push on them I notice no change in the engine. If these switches are not working will it cause the reverse to not engage?

The switch at the bottom of the lever in the interrupt switch. Engaging it will cause the engine to stumble. No stumble can mean a bad switch, bad wire connection or bad module.

As posted in the other thread, It has little to do with getting in gear, but helps more to get out of gear.

Whether or not this system is good to go has nothing to do with your problem and is not the cause. You have an internal mechanical problem of some sort.
