Welcome to iBoats! Why not just post all your restoration progress right here on iBoats! That's what the rest of the members do. Makes is sooo much easier for the members to follow along and answer any of your questions that pop up. Open a Photobucket account to post your pics and then use the IMG Code to copy and paste them into your iBoats thread. Easy Smeazy!!!

Woodonglass,

I am not allowed to go to Photobucket on my work computer, but I am able to access the blog page.

I will do what you suggested when I get home and then I will just post to both here and my blog.

Thanks for the suggestion! :thumb:

No need to open a photobucket account. You have the pictures already in your blog.

Well, after being sick for a week, I finally felt well enough to go outside in the cold and start some tear down/salvage work. As you will see below, the former owner took great pride in his boat. (sarcasm)

The Bimini top vinyl was trashed, so I cut it off. My uncle makes aluminum awnings and he said he would use the pattern to sow me a new top. (Yay for connections!) :)

IMG_6213.JPG
The wire connections aren't looking so great.

IMG_6215.JPG
I think I will be able to salvage the light that was on top of the Bimini.

IMG_6217.JPG

The Bimini top rails still look good.

Look what I found! There was some 2" PVC pipe pieces, some old flotation vests, and some old bumpers left in the seats! I might be able to salvage these as well.

The old seats look awful. They weren't even bolted down. The cushions are rotted beyond belief. I am going to throw these out since I have other plans for seating.

There are some old metal pipes that look like they were used for a boat cover as some point.

IMG_6233.JPG

I think I MIGHT need to get a new fire extinguisher. Also, the table has seen better days.

The former owner really knew his way around some electrical wiring! *rolls eyes*

Hey, but at least there's a cassette tape deck!!! ;)

The old vinyl Bimini pattern and other salvaged parts are in the garage for future use.

It really didn't take all that long to clean up and salvage some things. It was just too cold to stay outside very long though and my one-year-old son will be waking up soon. I think I am done for today.

Well, for some reason the images aren't working. I posted them the same way I did last time. I was able to fix the link to my latest blog post though if you want to see the pictures. Enjoy! :)

Are you sure you copied the IMG URL and then used the Advanced feature to paste the Img code into the window??

I finally fixed my last post!!! :smash:

Well, I also updated my blog again today real quick.

When I bought the boat, it didn't come with a battery and the gas tank is disgusting. I needed a way to run the motor through the winter to keep it from getting messed up.

I am still looking for the right gas tank, but in the meantime, I bought some "rabbit ears" to circulate the cooling water from the garden hose. I also bought a portable battery that will crank the motor until I buy a permanent one. The battery doesn't look like much, but if you look it up on YouTube, CNET showed how it actually has some real cranking power!

Use some of this on ALL of your aluminum. Rub till it turns Black, then wash off with Warm soapy water. You'll be amazed!!!!

If that table is teakwood,it can be brought back to look new. A little sanding, teakoil and elbow grease!

LOL @ sphelps.

I will make sure and try the Mother's polish later and I will see if I can salvage the wood if it's salvageable.

Grub, do you know how I can tell if it's teak? :noidea:

Thanks all!!!

You should have a real battery hooked up to your motor when you use that jumper battery. That booster pack specifically says it will not act as a load to your charging system.
