Total protection from the sun, maybe; but for what price?!

Now you added a good leverage for strong wind to roll and possibly capsize such a small boat. I wouldn’t feel safe with this setup but it is your boat, life and call. Make sure you do have life jackets on board

It's hard to see the scale of this thing in the picture. The boat is TINY, only 8 feet, and floor to canopy height is VERY short. Like, I'm almost a midget (5'2") and I have to hunch under it on the sides. So if you do the geometry, it's not really that top-heavy. And like I said, I trimmed her height down further from when I took the photo.

More important, we get like NO winds in our inland marshes/Everglades system, water is only a few feet deep, and I'm just going to USE it when it's dead calm winds, those times when you really bake out there.

We'll see, but for the money, this was definitely worth a shot.

I guess I'll take another photo of it with the new height this weekend. And I'm already planning the next stage:

The framing and fabric has to be put on onshore. (Boat is too small to do it "at sea.") So I want to be able to launch, with the clamps and framing already assembled or in storage bag, and then just throw another piece of configured fabric on top, adhered to the framing via whatever fast and easy Rube Goldberg method to get it on there and off in a snap. As of now, there's a lot of PITA velcro-ing to be done, whereas I really just need to clamp/weight the fabric down in a few places.

Maybe you could add some outriggers like a Vietnam Sampan..

Don't get me started!!!

You could probably make them removable, attaching to rod holders..:D....put them on for less than perfect days! hehe

I'll look into doing that, but only if I could wear one of those great rice-grower hats and sell fried fish off my bow.

And hell--I just noticed it:

Those outriggers look like nothing more than PVC.

Home Depot--HERE I COME!!!

Ayuh,.... Funny you should mention Turtle,... Probably won't take much of a wind,....

I see a nylon boat, with a polyester top, upside-down in this picture, not a polyester boat, with a nylon top,...
