My Sea Nymph status

Okay, just wanted to update everyone.

First - the 25hp Mercury:
Got the carb taken apart and cleaned by my neighbor last week. Ran some Sea Foam through it first, plus added the rest of the can to the 6 gallon fuel tank. While cleaning, he discovered that the float needle retaining pin was missing! That explained why the engine wouldn't hold an idle!

Here's how it runs now...



And it fires up with a single pull of the rope starter as well!



Next, the hull:
Ground down the putty/epoxy/whatever that was glopped over the small crack up forward. Tomorrow I'll clean it thoroughly, then patch it with JB Weld and let it cure for a few days. After a sea trial, if the JB doesn't hold, I'll have to see if my neighbors buddy will weld if for me. If not, I may look for a commercial company to do the welding. I'll save Gluvit for last, since it's likely the most expensive option.

Also put in a temporary fix for the baitwell drain hose. It was quick and dirty, but should completely prevent any leakage.

After the JB cures, I'll head to the launch ramp. Probably by Wednesday or Thursday, depending on weather.

Can't wait to get this little boat on the water for the first time!

Just applied the JB Weld to the hull damage. May end up fairing the first coat, then adding a second coat tomorrow afternoon.

Pix show the damage, the JB Weld, plus some repairs made by a prior owner.

Don't know what those patches are exactly. Maybe something which is used to seal A/C ducts or something like that? Anybody know? They certainly look like they've been there awhile.
