Re: My Sierra Impeller Warranty Claim

Therefore, someone switched the impellers, and put a "crappy" Merc impeller in the Sierra box. I still can't explain the hard/stiff rubber, though.

You bought another impeller just to prove to yourself that sierra didn't use merc part numbers? You seem pretty helll bent on going after them, but not much info about discussing with marina.

What reason did the marina give for having a merc impeller in a sierra kit? My guess would be, oh crap the owner wants the old part back. Let me go back and find the impeller in the trash. Ok, here is the 1st one I found.

It's either that or the swap happened prior to the purchase. In both cases the marina is responsible, and sounds like they still do boat work for you. Have the discussion, maybe your business is important to them.

Yeah, I bought a new kit, because I'll likely change it over the winter....or next winter. Not a waste of money, I can even return it. (Also, the new kit DID NOT have the impeller sealed in the plastic bag, with the rest of the parts).
I'll mention it to the marina, but it will be likely of no use.....
I am fairly sure they gave me back the impeller they took out of the drive; I remember noticing it was more stiff than the old one, when I installed it in January, but it was immaculate, and I assumed it was new/good.

Boating on L.I. is likely different than most other places......we are the capital of scams, shady deals, high prices, dishonesty, etc. etc. I bet these ills are slowly creeping to the rest of the country......it's only a matter of time........watch-out
I learned for the upteenth time....you really can't completely trust anyone......if you want to be absolutely sure it's done right, you have to do it yourself.

Personally, I think you're nuts not going to the marina and saying something. Seems like you've been pointing fingers at Sierra, when Sierra had nothing to do with your problem. You bought a new impeller kit from your marina, expecting a Sierra part, and you got something different, which caused you to have problems, which they made more money off you from. I'd be all over that marina's parts manager and general manager looking for some financial retribution. I'd also be looking for a new marina for next season.

That's why I made sure to update my posts, and clarify that it's not Sierra.
I'll mention it to the marina, but what do you think they'll say? You think they'll take my word for it, apologize, and give me back money? Yeah right....
How do they know that I didn't switch the impellers?

This marina has reasonable price for dockage, and allows me to store my boat at home over the winter. I can find a new marina, and I wouldn't expect much difference. I've already got kicked-out of a marina, because I didn't store my boat there over the winter.

When dockage demand is high, and dockage supply is limited, they don't have to bend over backwards to appease everyone. If I leave, they'll fill the spot next year...
