Re: My spark plugs are wet

Hi, Bobbo.

Lots of good advice and analysis in this thread.

A few thoughts.

1. Plugs are wet. When you turn off the ignition to stop the engine it continues to turn for a few revs. That pumps fuel/air into the cylinders that does not get burned. The plugs will be wet in many engines.

2. Black, sooty/oily plugs are a sign of incomplete combustion or "cool" combustion. This could be from an over-rich mixture (covered well above), not reaching designed operating temp (also covered well), too cold range on spark plugs, excessive idling time or too much oil in the fuel.

3. So-called "cheap" oil, as long as it is TC-W3 is priced according to who labels and sells it, not on quality. The idea that the more you pay the better the oil is a myth.

Follow the advice above; decarb, set mixture according to the book, do a link 'n' synch according to the book, use a hotter plug, etc. and you should be okay.

Good luck. :)

Re: My spark plugs are wet

a faulty choke/enricher can deff. cause a flooding
condition which would create these problems.

Re: My spark plugs are wet

i dont know my rpm at wot. You mean that my choke could cause the problem?

when i press the choke button it happens noting with the unit that i think is the choke. it is an round thing sice of an battery, with a "button" below that i think should go up when choke is puched. i will check it this weekend if it is 12v at the cords that lead to the choke. i thought that this choke gave a litte push of gas when the butten is pushed. so if it is stuck it woldnt cause any problem.
