You may have a weak battery. High power settings pull down the battery voltage to the point where the system low voltage protection cuts off. Charge the battery and have it load tested.

What all do you have, amps, speakers, etc.? What's cutting out, the headunit? Have you recently changed anything? I'd start by making sure you have good clean power and ground connections. Next I'd check the voltage as you turn it up. If that all checks out unhook all the speakers and see if it still does it. If the problem goes away hook the speakers up one at a time to figure out which one is causing the problem.

Start by letting us know what you have and how it is wired. Decks and amps will cut out due to voltage drop. Too small of wire can cause that at moderate volumes.

Pay no attention to those that lob their opinions this way. Boat how you like, but also respect those around you. Most assume that if your build a stereo capable of being loud that you will always use it loud.

They will also cut out if the temp gets too high. Increasing the volume also creates heat in the head unit, coupled with the fact that the dash is baking in the sun.

Check the size of your fuses. I had one that was too small and would cut out at higher volumes. Turns out that it had a tiny 2.5amp fuse in where a 15amp was supposed to be. Couldn't deliver the power when necessary, but wouldn't blow either.

Re: My stereo sysem in my boat keeps cutting out if the volume is too high

In my experience, anyone who builds a stereo capable of being loud ALWAYS uses it loud.

Then get more experience. My boat will do over 60 though I rarely take it to that speed, my stereo has 1800 watts but I rarely turn it up, my truck can tow a lot more than I tow with it. I own guns, but don't shoot them in the street on new years, I have dogs but don't let them poop on the nieghbors grass. The list can go on and on.

Many people don't show respect to those around them. But making assumptions based on experience is dangerous.

Rant over.

Back to the OP.

Many good suggestions to look at. From wiring, to fuses, speakers.
