I have an early 70's 17 foot runabout that looks like new. I drilled into my stringers in the engine compartment and the beams are quite wet inside. However, the wood looks healthy. Where the engine mounts go everything looks solid, the mounting bolts hold torque. Can i continue to use the boat? Is there any way to "drill&dry", fill /plug with epoxy etc... or should I just get serious and rip the thing all apart.

hystat, there is no way to dry it without exposing it. Once done, you might find areas that are not too healthy. It there is no rot now, being wet, it won't be too long.
