Yep....she's pretty ruff. I hope she was free or close to it. It never ceases to amaze me how fast a boat can be destroyed by a careless owner. Of course, 1992 was 20 years ago. Hard to believe...

At least it's not an OMC.

Good Luck!

5 Grand for a NEW Boat!!! Sounds like a good deal to me!!!! And it will prolly be better than factory, as long as the motor is good.

thanks everyone for the welcome. unfortunately the bike parts were left at that house..lol my house would never be that condemmed..so i guess my first move would be a saws all or skill saw, prybar, and a hammer.. then sanding and grinding..is this correct

Pretty much....you got it. Don't forget the protective gear. Fiberglass grinding dust is nasty stuff... Tyvek suit, gloves, respirator, etc...

Yup, that must have been a decent sized artillary shell that hit that boat.

We will all be watching, but as other have said, I'm sure it will be better than new when it is all said and done.

Re: My wallet is crying already... Should be fun though... pics inside

Its has begun!!.. what a day so far.. hot florida sunshine..cleaned out the leaves and two inches of dirt with plants growing(like thats a suprise) from below deck. In the process of digging out all the foam from around the tank to remove it. I'm wondering if I want to put an extra fresh layer of glass and mat up the sides from the deck to give a nice watertight gel coating later.. decisions decisions. Ill take some pictures later and post them up before sunset.

Curiosity question: Should I Post a new thread for the process or just keep it in here. I planned on doing daily up dates for future restorers and to keep the experts up to speed on what im doing (being this is my first boat restore.) Thanks for any suggestions and keeping up with the restoration.

Re: My wallet is crying already... Should be fun though... pics inside

sorry for the lack of pics cant find my transfer cable.. ill look more in the morning. anywho.. while attempting to remove the tank i noticed it has five screws securing it to what looks like another piece of plywood. I got four of them out and noticed one is rounded beyond normal removal. these screws are in a 1 inch metal tab on both the forward and aft sides. I'm pretty sure it will be ok but wanted to ask. I was wondering if taking my dremel and a cutting wheel to it to make it a flathead for removal would be ok. I dont plan on reusing any of these by any means. Im going to tape off the openings of the fuel tank to ensure no rotten fumes are exposed to the sparks from the cutting wheel.
Sound about right?

Second Question. Whats a good way to clean, rinse, and inspect one of these larger tanks. The last thing I need is to finish the boat and motor and end up pumping trash through new lines and accessories. Are there any types of coatings I can introduce incase of any minor rust inside?
