Mystery Hole (Probably a stupid question!)

Hi,

Can't seem to find any info on this hole as shown in the picture. I've checked various schematics but it is not detailed or even mentioned.

The lower unit belongs to an Evinrude 90hp (1997). Is this for a pitot tube? But all pitot tube references (as researched online) are for the 115hp engine. Is it possible the lower unit was swapped?

Sorry, but I'm new to this : )

The only stupid question is the one that is not asked.

I believe that is a weep hole which allows the water to drain from below the water pump area.

It's a drain hole to prevent freeze damage when out of the water. There are probably others as well. Pitot hole would be on the leading edge of leg just above the lower unit.

Thank you both very much for clearing that up. I was half-afraid something had fallen out : )

Just to be thorough, I presume this 'drain' doesn't require any special maintenance (other than ensuring it's not clogged)?
