Hi, i own a 92 40hp force. Recently i replaced the switchbox. I have a part that is located right behind that switchbox. The part is approximenty 5 inches long and 1 1/2 wide(basically looking like a black snicker's bar. On the very end on the parts are 3 wires going into it and one wire coming out the other end. the colors of the three wires are solid green/white, solid white/green, and black(negative). Those greens hook up to my stator. The one wire coming out the other end is blue and heads to the blue on my switchbox.
I am trying to trouble shoot a firing problem and it's come to this part which i get no ohm reading whatsoever on it. All other possibility's test out good on my ohm tester.
I cant find the part in my repair manual and have no idea what it is. I'm sure it's some type of a transformer/switch that connects the stator to the switchbox. Please help me if you can.

mike

Re: Mystery Part???

That is the adapter module for the red stator conversion kit. This was an update done some time ago that uses a higher output stator. The module lowers the voltage to a level that the switchbox can handle. DO NOT REMOVE!!!!
