mystery wire on my 1974 40hp 402

hello everyone I'm new here so be gentle, my question is if someone could tell me where and what this wire is for coming from my starter solenoid there is nowhere in the motor to attach it except back on to the starter solenoid please help.:facepalm::embarassed: PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS
